WALES WOMEN V HONG KONG

Having beaten South Africa in an historic win at the Cardiff Arms Park last weekend, Wales Women were feeling more than ready to take on their next opponents - Hong Kong.

Both teams met at the 2017 World Cup in Ireland where, despite admitting they went in to the game too complacent, they they put the side from the East to bed in a 39 - 15 victory at the UCD Bowl, Dublin.

Head Coach Rowland Phillips made eight changes to the side that secured a 19-5 win over South Africa with a few, including second row Gwen Crabb, winning their first senior caps for Wales. As Warren Gatland is doing with the men's game against Tonga, Phillips took this opportunity against Hong Kong to test the strength and depth of his side and to give younger players a chance on the international stage.

Being a dry and clear, albeit cold night, a good crowd turned up at the Arms Park to watch Sioned Harries, who crossed the white wash twice herself, lead her team out to a ten try victory over the opposition.

The first half saw some great tries by the women in red. Jasmine Joyce, winger and GB Sevens player, opened proceedings through stepping past three defenders with astonishing speed to score one of the best tries of the night that left the Cardiff crowd in awe. Flanker Bethan Lewis hit some great lines with impressive speed to touch down twice. Wales women crossed the try line a further four times before half time leaving the pitch after 40 minutes with a 48 - 0 lead.

The Welsh forwards dominated the Scrum steam rolling through the Hong Kong pack at every set piece.

HK's defence seemed to improve slightly in the last 40 but there significantly smaller pack couldn't hold back Lillicrap, Neuman and a second touch down from Harries to finish the 80 with a 65 - 0 win.

A convincing performance from a young Welsh side as they move on to face harder opposition next Saturday morning in the form of Canada.
