British Triathlon success

It seems that the Brits have been dominating the world of Triathlon over the last few months. With Team GB winning both Gold and Silver, thanks to the Brownlee Brothers, in the Olympics the world saw that the Brits meant business as they entered the Triathlon World Series.

Having crossed the line in second place when in San Diego, Welsh triathlete Non Stanford, set her goals even higher for the Madrid leg of the series. On the 2nd of June Stanford showed that her goals were most deffinetly attainable as she was the first to cross the finishing line with enough time to hold the red dragon of Wales atop her head. With 26 seconds to spare between first and second place, the 24 year old cruised over the line in a winning time of 2 hours 45 minutes and 39 seconds.

It was not only a day of celebration for Stanford, British triathlete Jodie Stimpson, also found her smiling to the cameras as she stood upon the ITU podium in third place. Very rarely, if at all, has two British women stood together celebrating a podium place in the Triathlon World Series.

Jonny  Brownlee completed a British double as he also crossed the line in first position in the Spanish capital. The current World Champion kept up his impressive form with a convincing time of  one hour, 50 minutes and 42 seconds. Currently lying in sixth position with four events to go, Jonny Brownlee has every chance of retaining his title as ITU World series
champion.

Jonny's brother and Olympic Gold medallist, Alistair Brownlee, has been out of action due to an ankle injury.

In the words of Non Stanford - "It was fantastic overall for GB".
