The Power is in his darts as Taylor wins 5th UK Open title.

Phil 'The Power' Taylor storms his way to a fifth UK Open title.

The 16 times World Champion stated that "I've proved to myself I can still win a major tournament, which is fantastic," and by only losing four legs in the 15 leg final, the man from Stoke showed the world of Darts why he is seen as the best darts player in history.

Having had a less than desirable semi-final fixture against  Brendan Dolan, The Power found his form at the right moment to hold the winners trophy above his head. Taylor managed to scrape through to the final by coming from behind and narrowly beating Dolan 9-8.

The 52 year old player lost the first leg to finalist opposition Hamilton but soon regained his composure and Taylor began to control the game. Things stayed on level terms until the fifth leg where from then onwards Taylor won seven legs with Hamilton only managing the one - 9-3.

The Power was averaging 107 on each of his throws and throughout the competition Taylor has had a great average of 100 and it seems that these numbers were enough to win him the £40,000 prize money at the end as he went on to beat Hamilton 11-4.

This loss has not disheartened fellow finalist Andy Hamilton as he stated in a post match interview that he was very proud of himself for getting to the final and that he will keep fighting until he wins a major. One thing is for certain, if Taylor's around it will take a lot for anyone to win a title without The Power getting in the way.
